Trustees:

I have no intention of responding to pernicious gadflies who are intent on destroying public discourse in the Village.  The
Wisconsin public meeting laws do not require that we allow the public to participate in our discussions at these meetings.  I anticipate public input at the third meeting of this ad hoc committee on June 7th, if the committee wishes to allow it.

The discussion at our first meeting was, despite Mr. Davidian's attempt to hijack it, actually very productive.  It became clear to the people present that the current organizational structure of the SRC and the ESAB has not evolved adequately since their inception, yet they now have access to large amounts of resources and are under increasing public scrutiny.  There is good work to be done here, in terms of community leadership, and I encourage you to provide the necessary leadership.

On behalf of the Foundation, I acknowledge that we have taken a tough line in the last year with Dr. Kircher's opposition to our request for clarification of the Benjamin Fund's restrictions.  We intend to continue to press ahead with our efforts to establish guidelines for the use of the Benjamin Fund that are consistent with its restrictions, as construed by the court, and consistent with our fiduciary duties under state law.

The Foundation Board is proud of its contribution to public discourse on this important subject in the Village, despite what the media (and self-proclaimed media) choose to say about what we are doing.  Only when the spending policy is in place can these funds be properly invested for the long-term well-being of seniors in Shorewood.  The Foundation has its eye on that objective and we are pursuing it.
