Kurtz on the offensive

SHOREWOOD, Wis. (May 10, 2005)  -- Shorewood Foundation President Harvey Kurtz said Tuesday that the William Benjamin bequest to the village seniors is really meant as a gift to the village, then questioned whether representatives of the Elder Services Advisory Board should participate in deciding how the money should be spent. Challenged, Kurtz jumped up shoved a finger in this observer's face, stood there for a moment in his bristling not-for-profit grandiosity, then shut the door, considering this, one suspects, a gallant and professional display of the sort of authoritarian machismo Shorewood has come to be known for since Foley & Lardner lawyers have elbowed their way to the trough. Earlier, Kurtz announced that foundation records are not public and said a plan was being hatched to keep official email away from the public. Members only
